Area churches are sponsoring a coat giveaway from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at Riddles Hall at the intersection of Ripley and Shaw roads in the Ripley-Coxey-Clements community of Limestone County.
Holiday Home Tour
The Athens Ladies Civitan will host its third annual Holiday Home Tour from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. The self-guided tour takes participants through five Athens homes decorated for the holidays. Six local caterers will provide a variety of treats to enjoy at each home. Christmas tree lighting
Local children referred from the Boys & Girls Club will receive toys from Santa and Mrs. Claus at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park annual Christmas tree lighting. A few bicycles will be given away. Hot chocolate and refreshments will be served. Children must have been referred to receive toys or be in the bicycle drawing. Child abuse prevention mini-conference
The Limestone County District Attorney’s Office and the Athens-Limestone Children’s Advocacy Center are hosting the first Child Abuse Prevention and Investigation mini-conference Tuesday and Wednesday at the Event Center, 114 W. Pryor St. Registration is $15 for each day or $25 for both. Jim Holler, nationally known speaker on child abuse investigations and Internet crimes, is the featured speaker. Athens Christmas parade
The 10th annual Reliance Bank Christmas Parade is Dec. 5, with a 6 p.m. start at Athens High School on U.S. 31. Float lineup begins at 3:15. The theme is A Storybook Christmas. The parade goes west along Hobbs Street, winds around the Courthouse, travels down Jefferson Street and ends at Hometown Grocery.
Holiday party library fundraiser
This year’s holiday party fundraiser for the new Athens-Limestone Public Library will be hosted by Jim and Kristi Christopher on Dec. 6, from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and include a tour of their historic home, 311 N. Jefferson St., an open bar, music and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are limited to the first 200 sold and are available at the library, 405 East South St., or online, www.athenslimestone.lib.al.us.
Rogersville Christmas parade
