COXEY—Jamison Bridges was a little nervous heading into Friday night’s game against East Lawrence.

The junior quarterback knew what was on the line for Clements High School. He knew if the Colts picked up a win it would allow for a three-way tie in Class 2A, Region 8 and the rest would be out of his hands.

He also knew that if Brandon Sanderfer wasn’t able to play that he had to step up and take over.

“I knew all week that if he (Sanderfer) couldn’t go that they were going to rely on me a lot more,” Bridges said. “It was pretty tough not having him in the game. He’s given us big plays all year but Clint and Joel really stepped up and had a big night for us.”

Despite the nerves, it didn’t take Bridges long to find his groove. He finished the night 27-of-39 for 304 yards and five touchdowns.

For his performance, Bridges is selected as this week’s Crunch Player of the Week.

“It was a special win,” Bridges said. “I’ve been a part of Clements football all my life and knowing that I was part of a winning season is pretty special.”
