Roger and Marsha Shaw of Ardmore announce the engagement of their daughter Laura Nicole Shaw of Ardmore to Charles Michael Deffenbaugh of Athens, son of Mike and Beverly Deffenbaugh of Toney.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Hugo and Barbara Gey of Ardmore, and the late Laura Evelyn Shaw.

She is a 2006 graduate of Ardmore High School and a 2008 graduate of Calhoun Community College where she received an associate degree in nursing. She is employed by Huntsville Hospital as a registered nurse.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Hural and June Daphney Jones of Toney, Billy Deffenbaugh of Hartselle, and the late Oris Grisham Deffenbaugh. He is the great-grandson of Naola Bailey of Athens.

He is a 2006 graduate of Ardmore High School and a 2009 graduate of Calhoun Community College where he received an associate degree in machine tool technology, machinist and machine too technology, and CNC. He is employed by Turner Medical as a machinist.

The wedding is planned for Sept. 26, 2009, at Sardis Springs Baptist Church.
