Engagement: Pitts-Britton

Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Pitts of Athens announce the engagement of their daughter Jessica Ellen Pitts of Madison to Joseph Clinton Britton of Madison, son of Jack Britton and Lynn Vess of Huntsville.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Nancy Harville and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ramsey of Albany, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Abernathy of Athens, and the late Edgar Pitts, Willie Shireman and Margarete Abernathy.

She is a 2004 graduate of Athens High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of North Alabama where she received a master’s degree in English/Literature.

She is employed by Decatur City Schools as a teacher.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Joe and Iris Traywick and Howard and Alice britton.

He is a 1993 graduate of Lee High School.

He served active duty in the United States Navy from 1997 until 2001.

He is employed by UPS as a driver.

The wedding is planned for June at the Old Brick Church in Mooresville.
