Letters to the Editor 6-7
Why not wait for study?
Dear Editor:
If Rogers Group is such a good neighbor, then why won't they wait until all of the ground water studies have been completed instead of acting like a small child having a temper tantrum?
I suspect that they know what will come out of those studies, and they aren't wasting time and trying to get all they can out of the South Limestone Quarry before their business license is vacated and not allowed to extract anymore rock.
The only time they are good neighbors is when everything is going exactly as they want them to go with no interference from the public.
Not what I would exactly call a good neighbor, not by a long shot. The one thing I want to know is what makes them think they are above the law, and that they can just keep on destroying such a beautiful ecosystem like the one at Swan Creek.
I think the correct terminology is greed.
Sincerely,
James S. McBay

Not a racist
Dear Editor:
I would like to respond to Lt. Col. Simelton’s letter to the editor last Sunday. I hesitate to continue this discussion because it is obvious emotions are running pretty high on both sides. Many of the people who support President Obama, act like he is a messiah. Another large group thinks he will be the ruin of our great country. I fall in the latter group. With that in mind, I would make the following comments.
My reference to SSgt. Crooks being a lonely man had to do with retired military. I still contend that the vast majority of retired military don’t like what Obama is planning for our country and the military. While I can’t prove it, I believe Obama got no more than 30 percent of the retired military vote. My use of the word “hate” was probably too strong. Let me replace that with “very disturbed.”
