Letters to the Editor for 5/4/14

Thanks for Earth Day support

Dear Editor:

Everyone at KALB would like to thank the community for supporting our Earth Day & Outdoor EXPO on April 26.

Environmental education is important for adults and children because in order to be good stewards of the earth, we must learn how to keep our planet healthy.  This planet has so many wonderful natural resources available for our use, and we should all learn to use them wisely, and with respect to all living things that share this planet.

One of my favorite quotes was spoken by the founder of Earth Day:  “The ultimate test of a man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.”

The Earth Day & Outdoor EXPO was meant to spark everyone's interest in knowing and understanding the benefits of treating our planet and all who dwell upon it with care and concern.  We hope every guest took home new information they can apply to their own lives.

We sincerely thank Custom Polymers PET and the Athens  Rehabilitation Center and Senior Care for their Earth Warrior Sponsorships. We also thank our Champion Sponsors:  Redstone Federal Credit Union, Bank Independent, Railroad Bazaar, Pepsi Cola Bottlers of Decatur, and Steelcase;  our Guardian Sponsors:  Legacy, Inc., Crews, Inc., City of Athens, and Athens Now;  and Friend Sponsors:  Aaron's, Blue Bell, and Progress Bank.

Every Earth Day committee member, volunteer, exhibitor, and lender of needed items is appreciated and we are grateful for your help.
