Thank you for tour

Dear Editor:

More than a few seniors have preconceived ideas relating to long-term care outside the home and or necessary prescribed rehabilitation after say, suffering a stroke, breaking an appendage, or recovery from hip or knee replacement surgery. Such thoughts are not ordinarily of a positive nature.

We do not necessarily consider where we will go for such care until it becomes essential and many do not realize we have a right to choose where to go for quality care. But we do have that right to choose.

Jackie Jackson, community relations and her husband Chaplain Tee Jackson, both on staff at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Athens, invited our Athens-Limestone Seniors Organization to tour the remodeled, redecorated facility on West Market Street.

The impressive tour experience included seeing all the modern resources offered at the rehabilitation section of the building that are necessary to deal with ailments requiring specialized treatment.

Brightly colored hallway walls, various decorative wall ornaments, a delightful outdoor courtyard, and comfortable sitting rooms offer a cheerful inviting environment.

The long-term residents rooms were independently decorated with each individual’s personal treasures on display. A 24-hour well-trained staff is on hand to meet each resident’s needs and desires.

Should I require such care in the future, knowing there is a place in my hometown where folks are invited in and cared for with love and proficiency is most comforting.

Many thanks to Mrs. Jackie and Chaplain Tee Jackson for offering such an insightful experience to our membership!
