The three men charged Wednesday in connection with up to $10,000 in missing power tools and other items probably will not face any additional charges, an official said.
Kenneth Dewayne “Boozer” Emerson, 45, of 23733 Pressnell Road, Lot 1, in Athens, who was already in the Limestone County Jail after his bond on another charge was revoked, was charged Wednesday with burglary, said Limestone County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt.
“I do not foresee any additional charges unless we find out he was not being straight with us,” McNatt said.
He is accused of stealing between $5,000 and $10,000 worth of tools and other items over the past few months from area porches, yards and homes under construction, said Sheriff Mike Blakely.
Emerson confessed to the thefts and to whom he fenced the stolen property, the sheriff said.
The confession led to the arrest of Bobby Glenn Morris, 61, of 24149 Upper Fort Hampton Road of Elkmont, who has been charged with two counts of receiving stolen property.
Morris was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
Jesse Paul Tipton, 31, of 17753 Alabama 64, Anderson, who worked for Bobby Morris at Morris Garage off Elkton Road, has been charged with receiving stolen property. He was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.
The arrest of the three men clears 15 to 20 theft cases, McNatt said.
Emerson allegedly stole and sold the equipment “to support a $500-a-day crack habit,” the sheriff said.
