HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Huntsville police are investigating after human remains were found in a wooded area near Interstate 565.
Police Captain Lewis Morris says city contractors were surveying a newly annexed portion of Limestone County when they found the remains Tuesday about a mile from the Limestone-Madison county line.
Morris says the bones were in dense vegetation about 200 yards from the roadway.
Police sent the remains to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further examination.
Authorities say they have determined the remains are human, but the age and gender of the person remain unknown.
