Police find drugs hidden on man’s body
A 48-year-old Elkmont man was arrested Monday after a jailer found marijuana hidden underneath his genitals, said Athens Police Capt. Marty Bruce.
Michael Daniels of 27588 Veto Road was charged with possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband, Bruce said.
Sgt. Greg Lott, who received a call from Woodridge Apartments about a resident dealing drugs, arrested Daniels late Monday night for giving a false name to a law-enforcement officer. He was transferred to the Limestone County Jail. While there, Lott asked the corrections officer at the jail to strip-search Daniels because he was acting suspicious, Bruce said.
“The corrections officer found marijuana underneath Daniels’ testicles,” Bruce said. “Sgt. Lott then charged Daniels with possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband.”
Woman arrested
In a separate drug arrest, Terri Lynn Schrimsher, 34, of 1202 Seventh Ave., Athens, was charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, records show.
Athens Police Sgt. Jason White arrested Schrimsher after receiving a call about a disturbance at her residence.
Schrimsher had four rectangular-shaped Xanax pills, which are nicknamed “bars,” “coffins” or “French fries,” and one Adderall tablet in her possession, police said.
Xanax is in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines, which act as tranquilizers and are commonly used to treat anxiety.
Adderall is an amphetamine used to treat attention-deficit disorder/attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.
