Athens Police investigators looking for a truck stolen from a local car dealership found the missing truck but also a boat, motor, trailer, utility trailer and tractor missing in three other thefts, an official said.
A Somerville couple is accused of test-driving a 1994 Ford F450 truck from J&R Truck Sales off U.S. 72 West in Athens on May 3, making a spare key during the drive and returning later to steal the vehicle, said Capt. Marty Bruce.
Detective Johnny Campbell developed Carl Richard Campbell, 47, of 300 Berry Road, as a suspect and tracked him to his home in Somerville. The suspect is not related to the detective.
At the home, Detective Campbell and Detective Sgt. Dustin Lansford found the truck. They also found a Bass Tracker brand boat, a motor and a trailer stolen April 22 from Athens; a utility trailer stolen from Decatur and a tractor stolen from Huntsville.
Campbell was charged with two counts of first-degree theft of property, and Sandy Lanette Campbell, 39, was charged with one count of first-degree theft of property, records show.
The two were transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bond had not yet been set.
