National Tourism Day celebrated in Ardmore

National Tourism Day will be celebrated today at the Ardmore Welcome Center in honor of National Tourism Week.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the Limestone County Tourism Council and Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will be at the Welcome Center greeting and talking with visitors as well as handing out information and gifts in hopes of getting visitors to get off Interstate 65 at one of our five exits – 365, 361, 354, 351 and 340 – and to visit our cities and towns through-out the county.

Live music will be provided at 12:30 p.m. by a group from Ardmore's Pickin' and Grinnin,' Peggy and Calvin Holt and Jackie Case. Free Pepsi products and Bluebell ice cream will also be provided to visitors.

Each year National Tourism Day is celebrated to increase awareness of the economic, social and cultural impact that tourism has on the local, regional and statewide communities.

Every time an out-of-state traveler buys gas, stays in our motels, hotels or campsites, eats in our restaurants, visits our attractions or shops in our county, it adds to our economy.

Join us for a very special day and help us make visitors to North Alabama welcome.

For more information, call Limestone County Tourism Director Jeanette Dunnavant at (256) 232-5411 or Ardmore Welcome Center Manager Trisa Collier at (256) 423-3891.
