Luciano’s Italian restaurant is on track for a June 3 opening on the north side of the courthouse square in Athens, according to owner Danny Causey of Huntsville.

The restaurant, which has been in business three years on Airport Road in Huntsville, will occupy the former Giovanni’s Italian Bistro, which closed in February.

“Everything is going as planned,” said Causey. “We were approved for our alcohol license the other night.”

Causey said that he would have an invitation-only “soft opening” on June 2.

He said that he would bring some of his staff over from Huntsville to the Athens Luciano’s, including two chefs.

Causey said he specializes in freshly cooked dishes with seafood flown in four times a week. His menu also includes “a lot of pasta,” veggies and steaks.

“We need servers but we are now hiring for all positions,” said Causey. “Anyone who wants to apply should call me at (256) 683-7682.
