The Limestone County Commission will consider making June 27 Amateur Radio Day in the county. The day is in coordination with the American Radio Relay League’s field day events in which ham radio operators test their skills of contact all over the U.S.

Joe Ivy, the president and emergency coordinator with the Limestone Amateur Radio Emergency Service looks forward to seeing how his group does in a simulated emergency condition.

The club’s operators play a vital part in the communications of various agencies including the Emergency Management Agency, Ivy said.

The County Commission will vote on Amateur Radio Day at 10 a.m. at the Monday, June 15 meeting held at the Clinton Street Courthouse Annex.

Other items to be discussed include:

• Approval for construction for Brubill Estates and Chastain Acres;

• Approval of tax insolvencies;

• Closures of courthouse, Clinton Street Courthouse Annex & Washington Street Courthouse Annex from noon until 1 p.m. July 1, 2009, for an employee luncheon.
