Three local area business and community leaders recently joined the United Way of Athens Limestone County board of directors.
• Jerry Schoo, plant manager at Snap-on Elkmont since November 2008, has over 30 years experience in manufacturing management and finance. Previously he held positions with I Federal-Mogul Corporation and Coopers and Lybrand.
Born and raised in northern Kentucky and a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, he is a certified public accountant, licensed by the state of Michigan.
Schoo and wife Linda have three children.
• Dr. Robert K. Glenn is president of Athens State University. He previously served as vice president for student affairs and vice provost for enrollment and academic services at Middle Tennessee State University. He began his higher education career at Birmingham-Southern College and served in different positions at University of North Alabama and Missouri State University.
Glenn earned his bachelor’s degree from Birmingham-Southern and completed his masters and doctorate degree from University of Alabama.
He and wife Linda have three children.
• Bill Waring, store manager at Publix in Athens, has been with the company for 21 years. Originally from Long Island, N.Y., Waring joined Publix while living in Florida. He moved to Alabama to open the first Publix store in the state located in Hampton Cove.
Waring lives in Hazel Green and is married with two daughters and a son.
He is a former volunteer firefighter with Hazel Green and now serves as a reserve with Athens Police Department. He is also a member of the Masons and Shriners organization.
