Today is deadline to apply to display at Art on the Square

— Today is the deadline for artists to apply to display at this year’s Art on the Square event.
Applications can be downloaded at www.lscd.org.
The application fee is $10 and entry fee is $50.
A late fee of $40 will be charged for artists submitting applications after today’s deadline. Final deadline to submit is July 10.
Send applications, photo samples and $60 to Art on the Square, PO Box 1560, Athens, AL 35612.
Artists can display in a variety of categories, including: Painting, clay-ceramics, sculpture, digital art, drawings/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, photography, and printmaking.
The fourth annual Art on the Square event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 in downtown Athens. It is free to the public.
AOTS organizers estimate thousands of people attended Art on the Square last year and the committee plans to make this year’s event bigger and better, according to its Web site. More than 40 participating regional artists will display and sell original artwork.
“Two years ago, I had to remind myself I was in Athens. The artwork and meeting the artists under the trees was reminiscent of a trip to Europe,” said Diane Lehr, artist and former AOTS secretary.
The Kidzone offers 20 free art camps featuring activities such as painting, bead making, clay, swirl art, tie-dye shirts, multimedia collage, face painting and sidewalk chalk art.
