The Limestone County Emergency Management agency is receiving $5,000 in funding to participate in the Metropolitan Medical Response System.

Limestone’s portion is part of a total $39.8 million made available to 124 metropolitan areas through the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Program to coordinate the response of emergency management, health, and medical systems in the case of mass casualties.

The SNS Program, managed by the departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services, works with both governmental and non-governmental partners to upgrade the public’s health capacity to respond to emergencies. The SNS has since 1999 maintained large quantities of medicine and medical supplies to get to communities within 12 hours of a disaster to shore up local supplies that might be running low.

The County Commission on Monday will vote on an agreement with the city of Huntsville and the Huntsville-Madison County EMA to accept the funding.

Also on Monday’s agenda:

• Contract with Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood for limited architectural and engineering services for renovations to the administrative area of old jail at a fee of $75,460;

• Probate Judge Mike Davis will make recommendations for changes to polling locations that are not Help America Vote Act of 2002 compliant;

• Out-of-state travel for David Freeman, Rodney Jackson and Brooke Rollins to Atlanta July 21-22 to attend Cisco video meetings; and for Joe Moss to travel to Atlanta to attend a National Animal Control Association Training Academy Aug. 23-29;

• Revising pay plans due to federal minimum wage increase effective July 12;

• Transferring of Kelly Adams to appraisal clerk trainee;

• Preliminary and final approval for subdivisions: Maddox Place II (re-subdivide lots 4,7 and 17) in District 1; Graystone Phase I (re-plat lots 25 and 26) in District 1; and Cannon Farms West, in District 4;

• Accepting lease from the Sheriff’s Reserve for a 2009 GMC Sierra Truck for an annual rent of $1.
