Athens Police are still searching for a man who robbed the JMart BP station at U.S. 72 and Jefferson Street on Friday and they hope the public can help.
The robber, described as a 6-feet tall white male weighing about 170 pounds, entered the JMart about 4:45 a.m., said Athens Police Capt. Marty Bruce.
“The robber, who was wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt and black ski mask approached a female clerk as she arrived for work at the east door, stuck a handgun in her side and ordered her to open the store and give him all of the money,” Bruce said. “He also ordered her to give him some cigarettes and to open the safe. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and checks.”
So far, police have received no leads on the robber’s identity and could use the public’s help.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Athens Police Department at (256) 233-8700.
