Free weather radios for low-income residents



Low-income Limestone County residents who need a weather radio can apply for one through Friday, Aug. 1.

The Limestone County Severe Weather Early Warning Project Committee will accept applications for weather alert radios until then.

Those who are homebound or living in a mobile home will receive priority.

One radio will be issued per household. Residents must live in Limestone County and provide proof of income to receive one.

Officials at the Limestone County Commission on Aging will deliver the radios to the homes of those who qualify. Applications are available at the following locations:

Council on Aging, 912 W. Pryor St., Athens; CASA, 409 S. Marion St., Athens; Department of Human Resources, 1007 W. Market St., Athens; Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 409 W. Washington St., Athens; Limestone County Commission, 310 W. Washington St., Athens; City of Athens, Mayor Dan Williams’ office, P.O. Box 1089, Athens.

The committee will announce a distribution date and notify those who qualify for a free radio.
