— Sex offender released after providing address
Dennis Wayne Beard, 48, of Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park, Jasper, was arrested and charged with violating the Community Notification Act for failing to report his address to law-enforcement as required of convicted sex offenders. Beard was charged because he did not have an address before being released from the Limestone Correctional Facility, said Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt. Beard has since provided a suitable address and has been released.
Beard was registered as a sex offender in October 2007 following a second-degree rape conviction in Kentucky involving a 12-year-old female, according to Alabama Department of Public Safety records.

County arrests
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests Wednesday, some of which are the result of recent grand jury indictments:
• Daniel Lincoln Barksdale, 55, of 24742 Craft Road, Athens, driving under the influence, improper lane use and no insurance
• Bryan Keith Brewer, 30, of 14290 Mooresville Road, Athens, second-degree forgery, (grand jury indictment)
• Gregory Ray Brooks, 25, of 12220 Lukers Way, Athens, loitering on property and public intoxication (grand jury indictment)
• Robert Lee Cook, 43, of 15759 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road, Athens, two counts of violating the Community Notification Act by failing, as the law requires of convicted sex offenders, to notify law-enforcement officials of address and moving too close to a school. Released after posting $20,000 bond. (grand jury indictment)
• Eric Carnell Crutcher, 22, of 1502 W. Market St., Athens, throw/shoot into occupied vehicle and third-degree criminal mischief, (grand jury indictment)
• Dennis Allen Freeman, 35, of 807 Horton St., Athens, probation violation (DUI)
• Douglas Norman Kelley, 39, of 12524 Cambridge Lane, Athens, first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy, (grand jury indictment)
• Tiffany Michelle Malone, 30, of 121 Scotland, Athens, three counts of negotiating a worthless negotiable instrument
• Brett Michael McCleary, 22, of 125 Lillian’s Way, Madison, DUI
• Ronald Baxter Morris, 34, of 22739 Pine Road, Athens, one count of negotiating a worthless negotiable instrument
• Jesse Paul Tipton, 30, of 22609 Bill Walker Road, Elkmont, harassment
• James Dennis Whitt, 33, of 19895 Wells Road, Athens, probation violation (identity theft)

County thefts
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department reported the following thefts Wednesday:
• Seventy Oxycotin pills worth $10 ($100 street value) stolen Tuesday from the 24000 block of Upper Fort Hampton Road

City arrests
The Athens Police Department reported the following arrests Wednesday, some of which may be the result of recent grand jury indictments:
• Dennis Allen Freeman, 35, of 807 Horton St., Athens, probation revocation (DUI)
• James Dennis Whitt, 33, of 19895 Wells Road, Athens, probation violation
• Steve Leon Yarbrough, 32, of 301 Coman St., Athens, third-degree domestic violence

City thefts
The Athens Police Department reported the following thefts Wednesday:
• Sprint brand cellular telephone, Sony brand Ipod and baseball cap, total value $269, stolen Tuesday from Athens High School stadium, 100 U.S. 31 North
• LG brand cellular telephone valued at $20 stolen Tuesday from Dollar General, 100 U.S. 31 South, Suite F
• Alabama driver’s license, wallet Medicaid card and Social Security card stolen Tuesday from 704 Sanders St.

Wrecks
A Huntsville driver was injured at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. 72, between Clinton Street and John Hector Drive in Athens, according to Athens Police. An Tran Gough, 25, who was injured in the wreck, was treated at Athens-Limestone Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Hospital report
Athens-Limestone Hospital reported two admissions and one discharge Wednesday.
Admitted were James Moran of Elkmont and Shavetta Johnson of Athens.
Discharged was Kathy Swanner of Athens.
