A $1,000 reward has been offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for Friday’s robbery of an Ardmore, Tenn., bank.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Memphis and Ardmore Police Department posted the reward Monday.

About 1:40 p.m., a black man about 5-feet, 9 inches tall and wearing a black jacket, dark pants, Ray-Ban sunglasses and a Miller beer hat entered CB&S Bank at 26314 Main St., which is just across the Alabama state line.

Witnesses saw the suspect run from the bank, but investigators are also looking for an older, white Oldsmobile with a red top believed to be connected to the crime.

“The man handed the teller a typed note to let her know she was being robbed and the

note was long and she wasn’t paying a lot of attention,” Ardmore Police Sgt. Tracy Luna said. “It started out, ‘Hi ma’am I hope you’re having a nice day.’ When she got to the part about ‘you’re being robbed,’ he laid a handgun on the counter so she could see it, and she started getting out the money.”

About five people were in the bank at the time.

The suspect fled with about $3,500.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ardmore Police Department at (256) 423-2146.
