There must have been something in the air Thursday at Elkmont High School — and it wasn’t love.

Two juvenile males were arrested in unrelated fights during the day.

The first fight occurred between 8 and 8:15 a.m., when a 15 year old refused to go to in-school suspension, said Limestone County Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt.

“He attempted to walk from the school resource officer and was cursing when he was placed under arrest,” McNatt said. “He continued to jerk away from the officer and tried to resist from being handcuffed. After he was cuffed, he continued to curse loudly, and he tried to head-butt a school official but was restrained.”

The teenager was charged with obstruction of government operations, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment.

The second fight occurred around 1 p.m., when a 16 year old and another student began fighting. A female teacher attempted to break up the fight and was struck in the chest, which caused her to drop to the floor gasping for air, McNatt said.

The 16 year old was charged with second-degree assault for striking the teacher.
