Limestone authorities arrest 3 in unrelated thefts; investigating burglary

Limestone County deputies arrested three people on unrelated theft charges Tuesday and were investigating a burglary overnight.

Joseph Anthony Williams, 26, of 5154 Elkwood Section Road in Ardmore was arrested on a felony warrant charging him with first-degree theft by deception in connection with an incident that occurred in August, said Limestone County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt.

“Someone paid him $7,500 to do some remodeling but he never performed the work and spent the money,” McNatt said.

Williams was being held in the Limestone County Jail in lieu of posting a $5,000 bond.

In a separate arrest, Doyle Alan Cosby, 41, of 18502 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road in Tanner was arrested for obstructing justice by giving false I.D., attempting to elude and first-degree criminal trespass, records show.

“Deputies attempted to stop him last night and he gave them a false ID,” McNatt said. “While questioning him, he fled and the deputies gave chase. He ran into the home of someone he knew in Tanner and hid there, which resulted in the charge of criminal trespass.”

Cosby was being held in the Limestone County Jail in lieu of posting a $4,500 bond.

In another incident, David Michael Mason, 26, of 2923 Honors Row S.E. in Hampton Cove was arrested for theft by fraudulent leasing, records show.

“He rented a piece of equipment from a rental business and didn’t return it,” McNatt said.

In another matter, someone broke into the Country Music Barn on Elkton Road Tuesday or Wednesday and stole three cash registers valued at $230, McNatt said. The suspect also broke into three quarter machines, a pool table, a crane machine and a gumball machine and took an undetermined amount of coins, he said.
