School board approves extracurricular activity, personnel items, expenditures

• The AHS Mythology class to visit the Parthenon in Nashville, Tenn. Dec. 2.
• The AHS Physical Science/physics classes to visit the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville Dec. 3.
• The AHS Photo/Art Classes to visit the Art Museum in Tuscumbia Dec. 4.
• The AHS Jazz Band to perform Dec. 5 at AASB Conference in Birmingham.
• The AHS Girls’ basketball team to attend basketball game and tour campus of the University of North Alabama in Florence Dec. 6.
• The AHS Career Exploration TSA to attend the Annual Technology Students Association Conference at the Bessemer Civic Center March 24 through 25, in Bessemer.
• The AHS Boys’ golf schedule.
• Various JROTC events: Including a rifle match at Grissom High School Nov. 24; color guard Alabama A&M University basketball game Dec. 6; physical fitness competition at Johnson High School Dec. 13; and a field trip to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Jan. 22.
Personnel actions approved included:
• Employment of Michael May as assistant baseball coach at AHS.
• Employment of Becky Palmer as assistant cheerleader coach at AHS.
• Employment of Clay Morgan as boys’ soccer coach at AMS.
• Employment of David Gregory as girls softball coach at AMS.
• Maternity and family and medical leave to Amy Lewis, speech pathologist at AES.
