With God’s will, Jesus’ spirit, transform my mind, let me write
Give me my sword that now I might fight.”
In his poem, “Why I write,” Malone says,
“I am a poet and for my people it’s my duty to fight
Cause my chocolate skin glistens like a star in the moonlight
I was put here and told to let my light shine and I’m going to do so with all my might
That’s why I write, so to tell the world don’t hate me, I didn’t make me
Martin got some more sermons to preach, Jesus got more people to reach
I raise my pen and shout out, “Master, use me, please let me teach!”
Because I write to educate, encourage, enlighten, entertain and to uplift
However, most of all I write because from God, it is my gift.”
Malone will read his work Saturday, Dec. 6 at “World, Sound & Power: Poetic Male Revue” at Expansion Books at 4550 Meridian St., Suite B, Huntsville.
