Thousands of WAFF 48 viewers could be losing the station on their cable lineup as of this Wednesday at midnight because the station’s parent company failed to meet agreements with several cable companies, including PCL.

According to a press release issued Monday by Raycom Media, many of those agreements have been resolved, but the remaining contracts expire at midnight Wednesday.

Envision Media Inc., Metrocast Communications, PC One Cable, PCL Cable and Alabama Broadband, which recently purchased Trinity Cablevision, are among the handful of cable companies that have not yet come to terms with Raycom to keep WAFF 48 on their channel lineup in 2009.

“Should we be removed from your cable system at that time, we wanted to be sure that we informed all of our viewers,” said the release. “There are several options that allow WAFF 48 viewers to keep watching their favorite local news and weather as well as other WAFF 48 programming. These options include satellite services or you can continue watching for free over the air with an antenna.”

The release advised customers to contact their cable company if they have questions and concerns. Alabama Broadband (877) 840-5040; Envision Media Inc. (256) 779-8700; MetroCast Communications (800) 633-8578; P C One Cable (256) 232-4009; PCL Cable (256) 232-4009 or (256) 353-1100.

Mike White of PCL Cable was “unavailable” according to a woman who answered the phone at the company.
