The County Commission will vote on appropriation requests from two area agencies during Monday’s 10 a.m. meeting at the Clinton Street courthouse annex.
The Athens-Limestone Beautification Board asked the county on Dec. 2 to provide $5,000 for cemetery fencing and landmark signs.
During Wednesday’s work session, Commission Chairman Stanley Menefee said county officials have not settled on the amount it will vote on for the beautification board during Monday’s meeting.
Sarah Chadwell, director of the Athens-Limestone Family Resource Center, visited the City Council and commission in early December to ask for $25,000 in additional funding apiece from the city and county for the nonprofit organization.
The center is already allocated $20,000 each from the city and county for the current fiscal year. FRC officials said extra funds are needed to prevent closing at the end of this month.
The council intended to vote on the center’s request at its Dec. 23 meeting, but decided to delay its decision to give council members more time to evaluate financial information provided by the FRC.
The next council meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 13 in the municipal courtroom at the Athens Police Department on Hobbs Street.
