Arrest made in Ardmore body-in-well murder case

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the body of a woman found last week in a 28-feet-deep well in Ardmore, Tenn.

Keith Allen Lane, 35, of 229 Henry Bayless Road, was charged this week with criminal homicide.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department arrested him last week on unrelated charges of assault, child abuse and neglect, sexual battery by an authority figure.

Lane lived with his mother, a girl and two boys.

The woman had been missing since June 30.

Lane is being held in the Lincoln County Jail and was to appear in court Thursday.

The victim, whose identity authorities believe they know but declined to name pending notification of relatives, had been missing for months, Blackwelder said.?

He said investigators obtained information leading to the property on Henry Bayless Road and obtained a warrant to search the well there.

Blackwelder did not specify what evidence led investigators to the well.

After two days of excavating by the Sheriff’s Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and special response rescue teams from Bedford County and the Fayetteville Fire Department, the body was discovered Aug. 14 in the hand-dug well, Blackwelder said.
