Huntsville woman killed in Thursday’s 2-vehicle accident

— State troopers have identified the woman killed in yesterday’s 2-vehicle accident at Black and Mooresville roads in northern Limestone County as Tamika Latrish Pryor, 28, of Huntsville.

Coroner Mike West said Pryor was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt-force trauma. Royal Funeral Home in Huntsville is handling funeral arrangements.

Pryor’s vehicle, a 1998 white Honda Accord — originally identified as a Honda Civic at the scene by an emergency official — was struck in the driver’s-side door.

Eyewitnesses said the Honda apparently rolled through the two-way stop intersection where it was struck by a red Moore & Newby Gin cotton truck driven by Tommy Elrod, who was not injured.

Shortly before 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Pryor was traveling east on Black Road and Elrod was going south on Mooresville Road when the accident occurred 5 miles north of Athens about a mile off Alabama 251.

The force of the collision caused the Honda to become lodged atop a fire hydrant in a yard at the southeast corner of the intersection, while the cotton truck went about 100 yards and came to a rest in a field adjacent to the yard.

Troopers said Pryor was wearing a seat belt.
