UPDATED: Athens woman injured in 2-vehicle accident; listed in 'critical' condition

— A two-vehicle accident on Alabama 99 in the Owens community injured an Athens woman Monday night, state troopers said.

Troopers said a 2006 Pontiac driven by Jasmine Mosley, 23, of Athens collided with a 2002 Nissan driven by Brady Clay, 20, of Lester.

Troopers said Mosley was injured and not wearing a seat belt, while Clay was uninjured.

The wreck occurred at 10:10 p.m. seven miles north of Athens, according to the accident report. First responders reported the accident scene as being just south of Harris Road and near Owens Elementary School.

Owens Fire Chief Gary Lovell said Mosley was taken by ambulance to Athens-Limestone Hospital. He said a MedFlight helicopter landed at the Athens helipad and transported her to Huntsville Hospital.

Lovell said he did not know how the accident happened. He said the Nissan was in the middle of Alabama 99 when Owens firefighters arrived on the scene, and that Mosley’s Pontiac “was way off in the field” near the roadway.

Mosley remained in critical condition Tuesday evening in Huntsville’s Neuro Intensive Care Unit, said hospital spokeswoman Pam Sparks.
