UPDATE: Two more arrested over recent church burglaries

By Jean Cole

— Two more people have been arrested in connection with a string of chuch burglaries in Morgan County.

Authorities say additional charges are pending from other law-enforcement agencies.

The new arrests bring to three the number of people charged in connection with recent burglaries at Fairview Baptist Church and St Andrews Presbyterian Church, both on Danville Road, and Cedar Ridge Baptist Church on Modaus Road.

The newly arrested include Tyler Lee Summers, 18, of 524 Tammy St. in Decatur, and a 17-year-old juvenile whose name and hometown were withheld by Decatur Police. Both are charged with three counts of third-degree burglary along with the previously arrested Jacob Ryan Pigman, 19, of 1555 Old Highway 24 in Trinity, according to Decatur Police Sgt. George Silvestri.

Pigman and Summers will remain in Decatur City Jail until bail is set, probably Monday. The juvenile was sent to the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Tuscumbia.

The arrests resulted from a joint investigation by Decatur Police, Trinity Police and the Limestone County Sheriff's Department.

Limestone Sheriff Mike Blakely has said the suspects in the Morgan County cases may be linked to three church burglaries in Limestone, including one that occurred on Christmas Eve at Round Island Baptist Church.
