Columnists, cartoonists join News Courier opinion page

To help bring in the new year, there will be a new addition to the pages of The News Courier.

It’s not quite the “out with the old, in with the new” line of thought because the new look will feature some old — as in familiar — names and faces.

Starting this week, The News Courier will have a daily editorial/opinion page and we have a superb stable of columnists who offer intelligent, thought-provoking writing styles.

Leading off from the right is possibly the most famous conservative around, Pat Buchanan. He will be joined by Mona Charen and Michelle Malkin.

On the left, we present David Sirota and Froma Harrop.

And, since every editorial page needs political cartoons, we’ve got a 1-2-3 punch to help keep you informed and entertained.

Chip Bok, Mike Luckovich and Andy Marlette will have their drawings at the ready with the issues of the day.

Not to forget our most valuable contributors — you, the reader — we plan to run letters Wednesdays and Sundays. On Sundays, the OpEd page will feature in-depth stories and opinion pieces, as well as the letters.

Community leaders, civic and elected officials are invited to share their ideas and plans on local topics, as well with columns and opinion pieces.

There will also be a News Courier view on important issues with occasional offerings from newspapers around the state.

All in all, we hope you will find this section informative and provocative as The News Courier strives to become Limestone County’s information source.

— Budd McLaughlin is managing editor of The News Courier.
