Rain and thunderstorms are expected for much of the rest of Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
A weak cold front moving through the area has stalled, bringing showers and storms to the area. A few storms may be severe with heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning.
Most of the rain is expected to move to the south and east by early this afternoon and only a slight chance of showers and storms remains after 1 p.m.
The cold front is also expected to bring thick, patchy fog overnight tonight in valley areas and near bodies of water. Visibility may fall below 1 mile in some locations.
Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s, while a chance of showers and storms returns to the forecast on Sunday.
