Sheriff’s lieutenant busts alleged meth lab

— A complaint about alleged methamphetamine sales at a home on Looney Road has led to the arrest of two men who remain jailed on $51,000 bail each.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Lt. Guy Simmons had gone to the home of 50-year-old Adam Wade Robison at 20636 Looney Road in Athens on Sunday to follow up on a complaint about meth allegedly being sold from the home, according to the report.

Brandon Trent Thornton, 38, of 23139 Kirby Lane in Athens, answered the door while holding a plastic bottle behind his back, which he proceeded to toss into the living room, according to the report. Simmons entered the home and found the bottle, which contained the toxic stew, according to the report.

Robison consented to Simmons’ request to search the home, and the officer found some items used to manufacture meth, including a drain cleaner, a gas generator, salt, syringes and an empty lighter-fluid bottle, according to the report.

Robison and Thornton were charged with first-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.

Both remained in the Limestone County Jail Tuesday, with Robison free to post bail but Thornton held due to a probation violation.
