Trial set in borrowed movies murder

The trial of an Athens man accused of murdering his cousin over a set of borrowed action movies is tentatively set for December.

Kenny Dewayne Adams, 35, of 14916 Chris Way, Lot 6, is accused of fatally stabbing Yancey Metz Foster, 34, during a New Year’s Eve day argument over the movies “The Fast and the Furious” and “2 Fast 2 Furious.” Adams was formally charged with murder and arrested in May. He has remained free since Jan. 4 on a $50,000 bond.

Adams is accused of stabbing Foster in the chest with a pocketknife at Foster’s mobile home at 14580 Chris Way, Lot 6, west of Athens.

Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones said at the time of the murder Adams was intent on retrieving two DVDs he loaned to his cousin.  He went to Foster’s home to get the movies when the fight ensued, authorities said.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely said Adams told investigators Foster struck and grabbed him, so he stabbed him.

The district attorney said that at some point Foster got Adams in a headlock, so Adams reached into his own pocket, retrieved a pocketknife and stabbed Foster, striking him once in the left chest. Adams then fled the scene heading toward his trailer across the road. Foster telephoned 911 at 2:36 p.m. to report he had been stabbed but died in an ambulance at the scene.
