Limestone arrests 2 on meth manufacturing

Limestone County Sheriff’s authorities discovered possible methamphetamine, a meth lab, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, and made two arrests, Thursday night south of Athens, an official said.

Lt. Jonathan Hinton had gone to a home at 18003 Hightower Road to serve an outstanding warrant related to a probation violation, Capt. Stanley McNatt said. Narcotics Officer Justin Flanagan accompanied Hinton because officers had also received complaints about possible meth cooking at the residence, McNatt said. Flanagan smelled what he believed was the odor of meth, and the officers sought and received permission to search the home and found the meth and other items, McNatt said.

Wendell Chad Chambers, 30, of 18003 Hightower, and Stephanie Leigh Brooks, 23, of 8388 Franklin Road, were each charged with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.

Randall Wade Chambers, 28, of 21957 Hickory Hill Lane, Athens, was arrested for violating terms of probation on a previous conviction for driving under the influence, records show.

Both remained in the Limestone County Jail Friday afternoon, with bail set at $56,000 each. Randall Chambers could not be released on bail due to a probation violation, records show.
