Elkmont man accused of trying to cash forged check

ATHENS — An Elkmont man accused of trying to cash a forged check at an Athens bank is facing a felony charge.

Athens Police on Tuesday arrested Dustin Gregory Hargrove, 29, of 25301 Elkton Road, on a charge of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, records show.

Police Chief Floyd Johnson said Hargrove tried to cash the check Oct. 7 at First National Bank, but a bank employee realized the check was a forgery and alerted the account owner.

Hargrove was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $2,500 bail.
