Lindsay Lane/Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road intersection closed

ATHENS —

Athens Street Department Manager Dolph Bradford said the intersection at Lindsay Lane/Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road is closed but may open by 2 p.m. today.

Crews are upgrading the drainage there before work can start on paving, Bradford said. Workers will have to close other areas of the road as work progresses.

"We ask for patience and safety from the public as we proceed," Bradford said. "We will do our best to reopen the road as fast as possible each time we have to close it."

In other projects, Bradford said the project to widen and improve drainage on Linton Road continues with shoulder work and end treatment on culverts. Construction will continue for about two more weeks.

The Old Decatur Road project has been proceeding steadily, Bradford said. Back fill for the road to the bridge on the north side is under way but construction will go on for several months.
