Police: 'Boy for Sale' ad a family prank

— FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — Police say they've solved the mystery of what appears to be a Craigslist advertisement offering a boy for sale in northwest Alabama.

Florence police Lt. Mike Holt says an investigation showed the ad was actually posted by the young man's sister as a prank.

Holt said Thursday no charges will be filed. But the boy's sister was counseled and told not to do such things again.

Police began investigating after being notified last week about a Craigslist ad that appeared to offer a young man for sale for $1,200 in or around Florence.

The TimesDaily (http://bit.ly/ThUdTK ) reports that the Lauderdale County Department of Human Resources was contacted, and it put out a statewide alert trying to identify the boy.
