Woman dies in Limestone County after collision with police car

— HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a woman is dead and a police officer is hurt after a car crash in Huntsville.

A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 565 collided with a police cruiser early Tuesday.

Police say the woman who was driving the car died on the scene, and the police officer was hurt. Authorities identify him as Lt. Corey Harris, who is being treated at a hospital for injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Officials haven't released the name of the woman who was killed.

Eastbound lanes on the interstate had to be shut down because of the crash, but they've since reopened.
