‘Fish for a Cure’ tournament to benefit fight against cancer


The City of Athens Relay for Life team is hosting the third annual Bass Fishing Tournament next month to “fish for a cure.” Money raised will go to the American Cancer Society.

The tourney is May 10 at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur from safe light until 3 p.m. There is a $4,500 guaranteed payout with first place winning $1,500; $1,000 for second place; $750 for third and fourth place; $500 for fifth place and the winnings for sixth through 10th will be determined.

The cost to pre-register is $100; late entry is $110. There also is an optional $10 big fish pot and an optional 50-50 drawing (do not have to be a boater to participate in the 50-50 drawing).
