UPDATE: Man injured in Wednesday crash listed in fair condition

— State troopers are continuing to investigation the cause of a crash that injured two Limestone County men Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred at 6:25 p.m. on Thach Road near the intersection of Clem Road. A 1995 Ford pickup truck, driven by 28-year-old Christopher Reyer, left the road and struck a tree. Both Reyer and a passenger, 28-year-old Michael Mingo, were wearing seat belts, troopers said, but both men were injured in the crash.

Volunteers with the Elkmont Volunteer Fire Department had to use extrication tools to free Mingo from the vehicle.

Volunteeer firefighter Darrell Blankenship was not at the crash site, but verified that Mingo was transported to Huntsville Hospital via Medflight. He said Mingo, who is his wife’s nephew, sustained a broken jaw, cuts and some broken ribs.

On Thursday morning, Mingo was listed in fair condition in the surgical intensive care unit. A hospital spokeswoman said Reyer had been discharged.
