New Hope man arrested for failing to register as a sex offender

— Athens Police arrested a man Thursday on charges of failing to register as a sex offender and violation of employment restrictions.

Police received a tip from a sheriff’s deputy that Thomas Wayne Martin, 26, of 1575 Johnson Ave., New Hope, was working at the Nail Shop on U.S. 31.

The officers found Martin at the location, where he was arrested on charges of failing to register with both the Athens Police Department and Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, which is required by state law.

After being booked at the police department, he was transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
