Three arrested in Athens on meth-related charges

— The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people Saturday on charges of possessing precursors used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

The sheriff’s office said the suspects were found on a house boat near Buck Island Bridge, located off Alabama 99 in Athens.

Two of the suspects, Charles David Greenway, 28, of Athens, Tenn., and Jason Brewer, 33, of Lynnville, Tenn., are also suspects in an Athens robbery and had been sought by the U.S. Marshals Service and law enforcement agencies in Alabama and Tennessee.

Officers in Giles County, Tenn., attempted to arrest the men on May 22 on the robbery charge, but they escaped on foot, the sheriff’s office said.

Working off a tip, Sheriff Mike Blakely and several deputies located the two men and Megan Hodge, 19, of Athens, on the house boat. Greenway reportedly tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended by Deputy Jonathan Hardiman. Deputies also found the precursors for manufacturing meth on the boat.

Greenway and Hodge will also be charged by the Athens Police Department in connection to the robbery. Greenway also has charges in Giles County for probation violation.
