Suspect sought in grocery store robbery

ATHENS — Authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with a robbery at Copeland Grocery at the intersection of Copeland and East Limestone roads. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday when a white male entered the store with a handgun and demanded money.

According to Capt. Stanley McNatt with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, the store clerk handed the suspect money from the store’s cash register. The suspect then fled the store on foot.

McNatt said the suspect was described as wearing blue jeans, a light-colored hoodie,  and a red hat with a bandana over his face.

Anyone with any information on the robbery is asked to call the Limestone County Sheriff’s office at 256-232-0111.
