Fire reported at West Hobbs home in Athens

— Athens Fire and Rescue responded this morning to a house fire at 1319 West Hobbs Street near Sycamore Place and U.S. 72.

Officials reported a structure fire at about 7:10 a.m. Saturday, with flames reported at the scene.

Scanner reports indicated that emergency officials made a request shortly after 8 a.m. for a Red Cross representative to assist the Randolph family at the scene. The family was reported to include two adults and an infant.

Fire Chief Tony Kirk said the fire has already been put out, with firefighters remaining on scene to monitor hot spots.

Fire officials reported the scene cleared at 8:23 a.m.
