UPDATE: Limestone flood warning extended until 2 p.m.

— Limestone County remains under a flood warning until 2 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.

The weather service reported that numerous roads in the county are flooded, and some have been barricaded. The Emergency Management Agency has also reported flooding in East Limestone and western Madison County.

Rainfall amounts of 5 to 7 inches have fallen across these areas. Indian Creek has risen above flood stage at  8.7 feet. The flood stage is 7.5 feet.

Limestone Creek has risen above flood stage at 12.4 feet. The flood stage is 12.0 feet. Both creeks are expected to slowly fall  this morning with additional rises possible if heavier rainfall  moves back into the area later this morning.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
