Limestone under flash flood watch through Sunday morning

— Limestone County remains under a flash flood watch through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.

A heightened flood threat continues across the Tennessee Valley, especially in areas that have been impacted by excessive rainfall over the past several days. A threat posed by additional rounds of heavy rainfall is expected to continue through tonight.

A trend of heavier rain affecting more of northeast Alabama and adjacent southern middle Tennessee is expected. Overall, an additional of 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected with locally higher amounts possible.

Runoff from this rain will cause rises in area streams, rivers and lakes.
