A search warrant issued on a local food mart Friday night resulted in the seizure of two bags of synthetic marijuana, counterfeit CDs and pornographic DVDs, and the arrest of a Decatur man.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said in a Monday press release that officers and investigators arrested Sahjanand Bhupendrabhai Patel, 22, of 320 Autumn Lane in Decatur. He was charged with one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
The warrant was executed on the Exxon food mart on U.S. 72 just east of Interstate 65, Johnson stated.
The seizure netted two bags of synthetic marijuana and numerous items used to weigh, smoke and process illegal drugs, according to the press release. Some 284 counterfeit CDs and 36 pornographic DVDs were also taken with the search, Johnson said.
The case is still under investigation and more charges could be filed.
