The funeral for Jerry Wendell Curry, 76, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Cantrell and Greg Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Curry passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Limestone County. He was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church.
Mr. Curry retired from General Motors and was a member of the National Guard. He was former vice president of the American Truck Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Leta Curry; daughter, Christie Lynn Curry; and son, Michael Ron Curry.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirlene Curry of Athens; son, Terry Curry and wife Terri of Athens; granddaughters, Candi Cristan and husband Robby of Athens; Tristan Lane and husband Russell of Athens; and great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Cristan and Robert Dale Cristan.
Pallbearers will be Ken Bates, Seth Carter, Tim Christopher, Jimmy Leach, Wes Brown and Jeff Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald McDonald, Lawrence Curry, Wayne Morrell, Erskin Higginbotham, Don Sloan, Don James, Ben Dowland, Charles Ezell, Seth Barnett, Danny Elder, Button Haney and Keith Johnson.
